Sterling Edwards is a popular and inspiring contemporary watercolor instructor
who teaches workshops throughout the United States and Canada. He is a
signature member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor. Sterling
has created numerous artist educational DVDs, and he is currently working on a
North Light book that is scheduled for publication in the spring or early summer
of 2010.

For more than twenty years, Sterling has studied and taught watercolors to
beginning and experienced painters. He goes beyond merely teaching technique
with his presentation of color theory, design and composition. The main focus
of his painting and teaching style is to create an interpretive painting that is
artistic rather than a mere replication of the subject matter. His expressive
paintings are a balance of abstract and representational design, capturing the
mood, light and dynamics of the scene.
The
workshop includes a demonstration and discussion every morning. His subject
varies daily to allow students the opportunity to see Sterling paint a wide
variety of subjects and styles. He explains each step of his process and
encourages questions. Sterling spends one-on-one instructional time with each
student while they paint subjects of their choice.
